The architecture takes inspiration from the beehive where the structure made of beeswax is strong and solid while the honey contained inside is soft and fluid. Passersby are immediately struck by the iconic glass facade emerging from the landscape to connect with the slanted glass roof. This area is accentuated by carving out a lower floor level to create a distinctive lounging area for Honeyful’s guests.

Inside the Cafe, honey in various shapes and forms are used for decoration throughout. Not only that, the details of the interior also subtly incorporate various features of honey. Warm light is used to highlight the space, when supplemented by natural light coming through the big window resembles the natural color of honey when glistening in sunlight. The interlocking wood and hexagonal tiled floor are patterned similar to how a frame of honeycomb is sometimes capped with wax and sometimes open. Colorful upholstery and versatile couches are placed in the middle to lighten up the atmosphere.

One key design challenge is to incorporate existing palm tree into the space. We’ve built a round glass panel around the tree and extend it all the way to the ceiling to create a seamless indoor-outdoor transition. Indoor plants are placed abundantly to compliment the garden outside. After all, honey is a product of nature and to explain its origin we have to go back to the flowers and the trees.
