5 healthy honey recipes
Tried and tested. We’ve gathered these recipes from health gurus and even asked how beekeepers themselves eat honey. These simple home remedies can really help to improve your health in significant ways. There are scientific explanations behind these wonders. But you’ve gotta try to know for yourself.
1st Recipe – a spoonful of honey to start the day
Because honey is comprised of two kinds of monosaccharides – fructose and glucose – the body can use this energy source right away. If we take honey first thing in the morning after fasting all night, the brain will get an instant energy boost. According to beekeepers, this is the best way to eat honey and get all the health benefits. If you spot bee pollen floating to the top (small black or brown spots), that’s where all the good stuff are, please include that as well.
Method – choose a honey that you like the flavor, use a dry and clean spoon to scoop up honey, the recommended amount is 1-2 teaspoon a day (but should not be more than 2 tablespoons / 6 teaspoons per day)
2nd Recipe – fresh lemon with honey never gets old
This duo works every time. Honey has antibacterial property and citrus fruits has high Vitamin C content. They work together in combatting germs and activating the body’s immune system. The keyword here is “fresh” because Vitamin C in juices is easily oxidized when exposed to air and sunlight. So it works best when freshly squeezed.
Method – combine 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice with 1.5-2 tablespoons of honey, lastly add about half a glass of water. Served hot, this drink has a soothing effect on the throat. When served cold, this drink gives you a refreshing and energizing effect.

3rd Recipe – milk & honey is not just for kids
It puts adults to a good night’s sleep as well. Honey when consumed in moderate amount raises our insulin level slightly. This triggers the brain to release tryptophan which then turns into serotonin and subsequently melatonin which is a hormone that regulates our sleep cycle.
Method – combine 2 teaspoons of honey with a warm glass of milk. Slowly sip the drink as you go through your relaxing routine before sleep.

4th Recipe – honey for allergies relief
Usually we wouldn’t recommend exposing honey to more than 60c degrees heat in order to preserve the amino acids. However, this is one exception for a runny nose day. When our body is weak and allergy symptoms occur, we’re going to need an emergency solution. By pouring hot water over honey, the bee pollens will soften up so that when consumed the body can digest it right away. This will trigger the body’s immune system to kick into effect. Additionally, inhaling the steam can greatly help alleviate the rashness behind the throat. We recommend drinking the entire mug in one setting for best results.
Method – in a mug, combine 1 tablespoon of honey with just boiled water
Recommended honey for this recipe – real, unadulterated honey with bee pollens intact
5th Recipe – honey with ACV, powerful probiotics
ACV is a lasting trend because it actually works to improve the digestive system. If you’re suffering from acid reflux, this is the recipe for you. ACV is quite pungent so it puts off many people, however, when mixed with honey it’s actually a lot better on the palette and even enjoyable. Moreover, honey can help to reduce inflammation in the esophagus and coat the stomach lining.
Method – mix 2 tablespoons of honey with 2 tablespoons of ACV and 1/2 cup water at room temperature
